Meet my father David Graham. This year (2017) he will turn 60.
He is currently diagnosed in the late stages of Early On-set Alzheimer’s.
My father began showing sign of Alzheimer’s when he was only 50 years old. An official diagnosis took a few years to obtain. Watching him slip away, slowly, has been the greatest heartbreak I have yet to experience. Unfortunately many people share this experience and aren’t able to help in essentially anyway, other than continuing to love and support the person diagnosed with this awful disease.
Younger-onset (also known as early-onset) Alzheimer’s affects people younger than age 65. Up to 5 percent of the more than 5 million Americans with Alzheimer’s have younger-onset. ( Alzheimer’s Association , 2017)
It is a cause that is very important to me..
